Hi! I Play minecraft and just purchased a lenovo edge 15 with a intel core i5 5200u and intel HD5500 graphics...It has 6 gigs of ram and a 1tb hdd with Windows 10.. I Noticed when I started playing when I did certain things, my frame rates would drop even when the prosessor was at 20% and the graphics card was under 60% load..The VRAM, btw, wasnt even half used. Then when I went to record with any software, my framerate would lock on around 12 FPS and cpu under %60 load and the graphics card load at around 30%!!!! Im not sure why the frames drop so much, i have the power plan on high proformance and I even turned off transperancy in the task bar and start menu! Help would be appriciated! Also, the recording softwares I tried were Fraps, OBS, Obs Multiplatform, And exsplit.

The gpu on your laptop isn't very powerful at all. What you're getting is about right for that laptop GPU. When you record, it taxes your system too, so that explains the worsened fps drops. Laptops aren't really meant to run anything past medium setting (generally), unless your laptop is running an i7 with a 960m or equivalent.

I disagree-the graphics card or cpu should be under full load for something like that to happen right? I Even looked up people using the same specs and could record at 60 fps so im not really buying this.. my friend has an older version of this (intel hd4000) and has no problems. Correct me if im wrong though.

Do you think it is something with Windows 10 optimization issues?

No. My older laptop has an old GPU onboard, and when it's dropping frames, it's nowhere near full load. They are definitely not running anything in high settings and getting 60fps while recording.

If you want decent settings, you'll have to fiddle around with them, like shadows off, Anti-Aliasing off, etc.

Try lowering your settings, maybe reinstall drivers,. There's not a whole lot you can really do with laptop GPUs.

I have it on low setting though.. Im still saying-my friend with the same gpu has higher settings and better FPS.

If your friend's older card is out performing yours with a higher score, then I would venture to say something deeper is causing your issue. Are you playing with you laptop plugged in, or on battery?

You may have to call Lenovo's support line and have them take a deeper look into it then, if it is still under warranty. There are a lot of thing that could cause it hardware wise. I highly doubt that there is a software issue that is causing your problems. Sorry about that!

well i just bought it Tuesday. I Honestly think its a driver problem or something. And btw its not thermal throttleing... im leaning twoards windows 10 being buggy because it did that on my old rig before too.

It could be, but if you think it's a driver issue, try my previous answer of reinstalling drivers.
