I have a Corsair 760X power supply, and I need to know what cables I need to put into the motherboard. My motherboard is a Z97 Gaming 3, I'll link to an online manual of the motherboard here - http://www.cclonline.com/content/pdfs/p5nV3Qo1BDQ5SW6ibLiZ0g-3d-3d.pdf

I'm also following this guide and putting every cable in its slot, but I have no idea how many of these cables I need in there - http://youtu.be/eVqUNo7oF6w

So basically, what I'm requesting is exactly what cables should I be plugging into the power supply? I don't want everything plugged in and I'm only using half of the cables, I'm sat in the kitchen with everything so I can try it with any responses I get, thanks for reading

Solution

The best way to solve this, is plug everything in, and connect what is needed, Then get rid of everything that isn't being used.

Well obviously you'll need your power cables, CPU and 20+4 pin. You'll need power your your HDD, DVD/BluRay/Card Reader, and GPU if you have one. Basically anything you have that needs power, needs the cables.

Ok I have the 24 pin already plugged in, I also have a 10 pin cable plugged in thats part of the same batch, they came wrapped together so that end is used. How many of the CPU ones do I need plugged in? I have 2 of them held together with twisty wire, they're 4+4 and have CPU on each of the parts that plug in

Ok thanks, I'll get all the cables plugged in according to the video then put the power supply in and move the cables to the side, then install the motherboard and screw that in, and try it from there

OK so quick update, I have 2 slots on the motherboard, one is called JPWR1, and that is the 24 pin connection, thats absolutely fine. The other slot is JPWR2, and it has 8 slots to it. Do I just plug the one from the PSU which is in the '6+2 PCI-E & 4+4 CPU' into the 8 slot JPWR2? I see no other connections to put any other wires from the PSU other than those 2.

Just to clarify, the other end I'm looking to plug into the motherboard is a 4+4 plug and it has CPU on both ends

Thanks to those who answered, and also those who answered my other auestion about what case to get to fit my motherboard, my first ever build is now complete, put the graphics card in not long ago, will plug everything in tonight and see what happens, already ordered the new windows 7 licence for tomorrow, and I have to install the cds for my installed hardware too. Hopefully the cables I have will fit the new rig otherwise I need to order those next, thanks again.
