Liquid cooler. Where to plug fans and pump?

Hey guys,


i have a Gigabyte GA-B85M motherboard and i am completely new to building a pc. however i just have one question: Where do i plug my cpu pump and my cpu fans. I have two headers saying, sys_fan and another saying cpu_fan. i imagine that the cpu fans go on the header cpu_fan but does the pump go on the sys_fan. is my motherboard compatible?

all answers are appreciated.

For your cooler, plug the cpu fan into the cpu_fan slot, then if its enabled in your bios it can adjust speed based on temp. Plug the pump into another fan header but make sure it has FULL power, you don't want your mb giving it less, it should have its own adjustments for more or less speed.

On my Kraken x61 I plug radiator fans into the pump(it has 4 fan plugs for them, then I power the pump with a SATA cable, it has a input to get said sata cable from my psu. The pump also has a fan plug I put into the mobo labeled 'cpu_fan' this is for fan control etc. So the only thing I plug into the mobo from the pump is the fan control fan plug which I put into cpu_fan on the motherboard.

In your bios there should be some options, but it might just be for your cpu fan(rad fan).If there are no options for the others, they are most likely getting full power.

Hey, if u still have that build then can u share the pic of the connections? I have the same mobo nd liquid cooler. I’m confused where to connect the pins. Lol. If u can share the connections it’ll be very helpful.
