Doing a bit of an overhaul of my system, and my power supply is right on the edge of being too little. If I need an upgrade what would you guys recommend for a good price? Thanks.

Do you own a boat? If so, that psu makes an acceptable anchor. Or a paperweight. Anything but a psu. Sorry, but the TT TR2 series is about as bad as they come. You try pushing a 970 with that, chances are very good you'll see fireworks which can and has a good chance of taking out either the motherboard or the gpu or both. Most definitely calls for a replacement before gpu upgrade.

550W G2 review.

Performance (40% of the final score) - you probably already know what I'm going to say here. Voltage regulation was excellent, averaging 0.9% in the hot box. No points deducted. Efficiency was a pass for Gold both times. No deduction. Ripple control was amazing, and probably the best I've ever seen, so definitely no deduction there. I saw no issues with anything else, so this unit gets a 10 here.

Functionality (20% of the final score) - this unit gets everything right. Even the CPU cable, which I thought was terrible on the 650W, is done right here today. Semi fanless mode works well, the manual is decent, we got lots of connectors to power anything a 550W unit should power, and the box came with more goodies than I tend to expect with such a small unit. 10.

Value (20% of the final score) - you can get one of these for $84.99 at Newegg right now. That's a fair bit for a unit this size these days, but as always EVGA is right at the bottom of the cost pile when it comes to 80 Plus Gold and full modularity. The nearest competition is their own 550W GS unit at one dollar more money. This is nuts. How are you making any money on these, EVGA? 10.

Build Quality (20% of the final score) - oh, snap... EVGA just got another perfect total score. There's nothing wrong with this unit. Nothing. 10.

500w will power a locked Intel pc, no worries. But thats size. There is a difference in psus though. There are more than a few units rated at 650w or better that I'd not trust on a $300 video card. What's not in your favor is its a 500w unit, and there are no good quality 500w. 520w yes, 550w yes, but not 500w.so you are basically looking at a tier3 or below, which are not ideal for gaming demands and stresses.

Black friday/Cyber Monday is right around the corner, so now is an excellent time to start looking at what's available.

Any XFX 550w or better,
Seasonic 520/620 S12-II or M12-II,
Antec HCG 520/620, edge
Evga B2, GS, G2, 550w or better
Rosewill Capstone (not G series)
Corsair HXi, RMx, RMi, AX, AXi,
Seasonic G, X.

Pretty much anything 520w+ in the tier2 or tier1, depending on budget.
