Hy. I cannot make a decision, so I tought i could use some help. Which one should I choose for 1080p gaming? Msi R9 270x Gaming 2G or Asus Gtx 950 strix?

My rig:
Athlon 750k
6gb ddr3 1333 mhz
1tb hdd
650w psu, 45A on 12 rail
Currently, an R7 260x 1gb from Asus.

Solution
Both are comparable performers, so it probably depends on the game you play.

I do not think either is a sufficiently large jump in capability over your 260X.
You are likely to be disappointed if you do not see a nice jump in performance.
GTX960 or R9-280 class card might be better.

+Geofelt, I know it whon t be a huge jump, but it will be big enough, I mean the difference between 1 gb and 2 gb will be noticeable in 1080. Also, as long as I heard amd will release his crimson control or what for amd gpus. And i know every amd driver since 2014 omega increases the performance of the gpu.

VRAM has become a marketing issue.
My understanding is that vram is more of a performance issue than a functional issue.
A game needs to have most of the data in vram that it uses most of the time.
Somewhat like real ram.
If a game needs something not in vram, it needs to get it across the pcie boundary
hopefully from real ram and hopefully not from a hard drive.
It is not informative to know to what level the available vram is filled.
Possibly much of what is there is not needed.
What is not known is the rate of vram exchange.
Vram is managed by the Graphics card driver, so there may be differences in effectiveness between amd and nvidia cards.
Here is an older performance test comparing 2gb with 4gb vram.

Spoiler... not a significant difference.
And... no game maker wants to limit their market by
requiring huge amounts of vram. The vram you see will be appropriate to the particular card.

This GTX950 review shows negligible difference in performance vs. R9-270X.

Also, is there a huge difference between r9 270x and the Gtx 960? If there s only 10-15% I don t think it would be worthy to spend 75$ more. And what do you think about amds upcoming crimson driver?
