hey,

i'm really confused and i want to settle this once and for all. so, which one should i go for?

1. gt 730 2gb ddr5 64-bit (zotac)
2. r7 240 1 gb ddr5 128-bit (sapphire)

now, is the 2 gb 64-bit better than the 1 gb 128-bit or vice versa?

i'm not a hardcore gamer and these are two that fit in my budget so i request you not recommend putting in a little extra for a better card.

please do let me know.

thanks,
kuber.

When you are looking for a graphics card if you are intending to buy the best one you can afford.

The key things to look at are how much on board memory the graphics card has. With more memory it will allow you to play a game in a higher screen resolution, and will also reduce any jitter or lag spikes because most of the game textures are stored on the memory of the graphics card for quicker execution and loading.

The second thing to look at is how wide the memory bus of the graphics card is in bits.
The larger the stated Bit the less work the graphics card has to do in loading textures and is also quicker at executing them to and from the memory on the graphics card.

To tell how powerful a graphics card is will go on how many pixel pipelines, or shadier processing units it has in total.
A larger number of these on a graphics card means it is more powerful and you will be able to play games at a high screen resolution, with high graphics details options selected in games under there advanced graphics settings of the game in question.

For an even balance or for a graphics card that would work better than the two you have mentioned.

One with 2Gb of memory and a 128 bit memory interface would work much better than the two you mentioned.

I did some research, and they are pretty much neck and neck: =2906&cmp[]=2713]http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/compare.php?cmp[]=2906&cmp[]=2713 (copy and paste ALL the link to browser)

The R7 240 is a tad faster, however is more expensive. I personally would choose the GT 730 since it has several advantages. 1, It's cheaper. 2, It uses way less wattage. 3, It has very reliable drivers.

Also don't let the 64 bit bus fool you, maxwell has a special compression algorithm which allows the GPU to use more vram with extremely low bit rates. This is why the GTX 960 can use all 4GB of VRAM with only a 128 bit bus.
