PSU compatibility issues with UPS

Guys my Seasonic S12G 650 PSU just broke down last week. The system would power off randomly during operation and I tested with a different PSU and it was fine. So I concluded that my psu had died.

This brings me to my question. I am thinking that the reason my psu got worn out is because of my APC Backup Pro-1000 UPS. I somewhere that all PSUs in the market now have something called Active PFC and they need pure sine wave for proper operation. My UPS is pseudo sine wave and I can't afford a smart ups with pure sine wave. I used to run the system a lot on ups battery when the power was out and that must've been the reason for the early death of the psu..4 months that's how long it lasted.

I wonder if you guys are also using pseudo sinewave ups for your gaming rigs if yes how well your psu is able to handle it and have you ever faced any issues with it. I am planning to get a new corsair hx850i or ax760i and wonder if they'd be safe with the ups considering I'll turn off the system quickly during power cuts hereafter. Please let me know your thoughts on this. It would be much appreciated.

That was very informative.. Thanks a lot.

Now my question remains.. Should I get the corsair hx850i or the tad costlier ax750i to replace my current failed psu? Corsair has a service centre near my place that's why I am going with that brand.
