Computer immediately shuts down after power

Hey everyone; I need some advice, I built my girlfriend a new computer from old parts that I had left over, and some new I got her from her birthday. I tested the mobo/cpu before mounting to the case and everything was working perfectly fine. After mounting the mobo in the case and doing cable management, the moment of truth came and the computer immediately shut down after power. I have ran through the check list twice, but am still unable to get the computer to boot. I am now in the process of clearing the CMOS (again) for a longer time to see if that might be the causation, but until then I want to see if I may have missed something.

The build:
Asus Z97-PRO [NEW]
Intel 4770K [Bought about a year ago for myself, but never used it, still new]
Corsair H80i GT Cooler [NEW]
Corsair RM850W [USED from my previous computer, with little to no wear/tear]
Corsair Vengeance 8GB [2x4GB] 1600MHz RAM [NEW]
EVGA Nvidia GTX970 SC [USED]
Samsung SSD 850 EVO [NEW]

I have tested everything before connecting it to the board, and was always conscientious of ESD, taking all the precautions to prevent it, grounding with a wrist band, discharging all tools, etc. So I don't think a faulty component is an issue. The motherboard is currently out of the case, sitting on cardboard, with just one stick of ram, power connected, and cooler connected and I'm still getting an immediate shutdown. Any advice past this point would be great, I'd really like to get this PC to my girlfriend before the end of today (her birthday)

Thanks!

Sorry for the late reply, I got the computer running and forgot about this post. I got the new power supply and began the process of testing everything again. Came down to a faulty SATA power cable that plugged into the SSD. I'm going to keep the 850w for more testing, and am keeping the 750w in the computer for now. Thank you for all your help.
Hi,
If disconnecting the 8 pin power cable, connecting a case fan to the board and starting it, does the case fan spin without stopping?
Check also the CMOS battery and the CLRTC jumper (if you've moved it for clearing the CMOS). Make sure that they are in place.

They began spinning when the board was in the case, but I will try your suggestion in a bit here.

Now connect the 8 pin power cable. Check both ends to make sure that it is properly connected. Start the board and see if the CPU fan does spin without turning off.
If it doesn't, I suggest removing the CPU and checking the socket if any bent pins.
If no bent pins, try re-seating the CPU, CPU cooler and testing again.

Okay, I ran to a computer store to get a stock heatsink for the cpu. [All these steps, I removed power from the power supply by disconnecting to the wall each time] I removed the CPU, all pins were like new. I started by connecting the 24-pin to motherboard and one fan though the CPU slot. Fan ran, no problem. I then resat the CPU into the socket, resat the ram, and plugged in a dvi to the integrated gfx slot...nothing, no fans, psu clicked twice on start but no power through the machine. I then unplugged the 8-pin from the motherboard, and hit the power. Fans started running, I sat for a couple seconds to really think about what might be going on then the 8-Pin CPU cable, that was still connected to the PSU (not connected to the motherboard thankfully) popped and blew up through the cord. I've powered everything down and now running to the store to get a new PSU.
