My Computer Specs:
CPU: Intel Core 4130T Dual-Core with Hyper Threading
Processor: 2.9GHz no turbo 3MB
GPU: GTX 860m 2gb GDDR5 ( not too sure but I believe I read a few articles that said the GPU is overclocked, and also that it is on par with a GTX 750 Ti )
Memory: 8gb DDR3L 1600mhz (single channel)
OS: Windows 10 64bit

The Alpha is a low end entry level gaming PC, but I bought it with the understanding that it was comparable in terms of performance to the Xbone and PS4, and some benchmarks I saw for the i3 model showed it even outperforming them by a small margin, but some people say because the PS4 was optimized and designed with an OS specifically for games that even with the Alpha's slightly better hardware the PS4 will still be better. I will say that The performance of the witcher 3 on the PS4 (dropping below 30 frames throughout a large portion of the game) makes me hesitant towards going for the PS4.I am also unsure of how well the Alpha will be able to run Fallout 4. Any thoughts?

The other responder is not correct. That i5 process they quote in the minimum requirements is from 2011. Your processor is actually a little better than that i5 and should run fine, and your graphics card significantly better than the minimum requirements. Yes, your PC can run the game if you are not looking for greater than 1080p.

I purchased PC version for my son and PS4 version for me. I prefer to lounge on the couch, 55 inch TV, 7.1 sound. My alternative is PC at a desk, and I just don't get into that except for Civilization, Starcraft, WoW. . .true PC games. He on the other hand will get into modding on Steam once that gets going, so makes sense for him.

I'm not sure which will run "better" as that is really subjective. My...

According to the requirements posted on steam and gamespot the alpha meets the minimum requirements, same as the PS4...
I'm asking which will run it better.

I'm not sure which will run "better" as that is really subjective. My reasons for preferring PS4 are above. But, PC may give you more options to control your gameplay and use a mouse as an option. You may want to wait until after release and watch for Digital Foundry on youtube as they always do good side by side comparisons.

Thanks for your input, I'm probably gonna go with the PC version as I'm just hoping for around 40fps on medium-lowish settings, and this article: http://www.inquisitr.com/2551400/fallout-4-ps4-players-report-severe-frame-rate-issues/
pretty much just scared me away from the PS4 version. I still get flashbacks to playing the Witcher 3 with 25 fps in Novigrad on release...ugh never again.

Have an alpha i3 with 8GB RAM and play Fallout 4 on ultra settings with a solid 30 frames per second you can easily increase FPS if you sacrifice some graphical power... still better than consoles though
