So I am starting to hit the max memory I currently have (8gb) so figure its time for me to upgrade. Wen't ahead and picked up a pair of

However I am curious if my current ram will work along with it? Not my intention to work them together. But i mean hey, if it works.. Why not?

From what I can tell they're exactly identicle. The only difference is the Timing. Which i have no idea what that is. (Still kinda a noob with PCs) My current memory has its timing as 9-9-9-24-2N. Whereas my soon to be new one is 9-9-9-24. Not sure with the 2N is. But it is the only sole difference I can spot.

The 2N is just the command rate for the RAM, nothing to worry about. Now in terms of mixing RAM, it is generally not a good idea as different sticks of RAM have different properties meaning they won't play well together.
However, that being said, it can work sometimes and the only way you'll know is to try it, if you really wanted to be on the safe side, buy a new kit of 2x8GB (recommended). In terms of the two different kits, they seem similar enough to have a decent chance and working together.
