Hello. Let me start with my system specs first.

Motherboard - ASUS M4A88TD-M EVO
RAM - Apacer 4GB (2x2) DDR3 1333 mhz
Cpu - AMD Sempron 140 (2.7ghz)
PSU - FSP Group 350 W
3.5" hdd 40GB, 2.5" hdd 120GB

I just bought an ATI HD 3870 graphics card for my computer. I had no videocard previously, only onboard gpu(ati 4250).

My PSU had no 6-pin connector for the card so i bought a converter which uses two of my 4-pin peripheral cables and merges them into a 6-pin for videocard.

After installing the new videocard, the pc just wont turn on, cant even spin the fans, nothing.
When I remove the 6-pin power cable of the videocard, the pc starts(sometimes the pc still won't start I have to unplug the power cable and plug it back on) but is beeping constantly, and nothing comes up on the display.
I have tried remove the cmos battery - nothing.
I have tried another videocard - Nvidia 8500 GT, and the PC works perfectly with it.
My PSU is 350W. The 8500GT uses 40W and the 3870 uses 105W. But I don't think my psu is too weak to power the card.

I have tried every step of this tutorial (except step 3):

Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

350 watt OEM PSU was just made for built in graphics. Any video card would be too much for it. You need a better PSU.

Edit: And like Vehiron said, it most likely is not the specified wattage. I would say more like under 300 watts. Also PSU's put out less and less wattage as they age.

Is your PSU a "No name brand" one, because most of the time they don't have the capability to emit the advertised wattage.

BTW, word of advice, If you need to use molex adapters to power your system, your PSU was not designed/is not powerful enough to power it.

okay, i have two more psu's

one says "fortron/source" on it - its 350w

the other is 400w - model LPE2-23, but it's length is suspiciolsly cut - it's half the length of a normal psu

also I have another computer here. Can i power my gpu from the other pc's psu?
