i have way too many computers, and i'd like to grab a system image of each of them to store on a separate hard drive just in case i need to restore stuff.
ok, easy enough with Win7 and Win8.1, but some of these are old OLD - like running Win98SE and Win2000 and a smattering of WinXP.
what's a good run-from-USB tool that can grab an image, toss it onto another hard drive as a giant ISO-type file, and let me get on with life? of course, this same tool would need to be able to then copy that ISO (or whatever) onto a replacement hard drive, including all boot sectors and whatnot.
oh yeah, some machines are dual boot of Win + Linux, so this tool would need to be able to handle any OS and any file system (FAT32, NTFS, ext2, ext4)
free would be best (obviously), but a $20 paid version might be acceptable too.
