Hi guys
I am wondering if this is a good PC build for its price. I have a budget of 2.5k which can go up to 2.8k. This is my current plan on my build, is it worth it ? http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/c2pdkL
To reduce the total cost of the build I was thinking of changing the motherboard into Maximus VII ranger instead.
What do you guys recommend for the Case and Monitor?
Feel free to give recommendations on the other parts.

What things would be a good build for gaming ?
Yes it is for gaming and I have seen a lot people make a gaming PC and said i5 is good enough.
You can change the build but I prefer using the i7-4790k as the CPU

My though was that although the 970 is a great card, the i7 is top of the line and the GPU might end up bottlenecking. With the $150 you upgrade the GPU to a r9 390x or gtx 780. Considering you can overclock the i5 (it's not unheard of to achieve in access of 5ghz with good cooling), you could see a severe gaming performance increase. Of course, do what you will, if you've got some more CPU intensive tasks to do i7 will be your best bet, but I would personally go with i5

This is what I came up with:
http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/W87YsY
I obviously changed the CPU from the i7 to the i5. I also changed the motherboard to save a quite a bit of money, although did result in sacrificing 2 sata ports (not too much of a loss), and I got you a fully modular PSU for the same price. With the large savings, I upgraded the the GPU to a 980, which is a good 25% faster. Especially helpful at higher resolutions, but will still give a you a very noticeable gaming boost at 1080p. There shouldn't be a noticeable affect from the downgraded the CPU when gaming, especially if overclocking. Also, importantly, it kept your red/black colour scheme
