Is the i5 3340 still good for gaming and how much longer do you think it will run games well?

I can get a used i5 3340 for a cheap budget build but I am unsure of how long it will be able to run games like gta 5 civ 5 dark souls etc. Do you think it will be able to run games for another 5 years? Or would it be better to go for a haswell i5 4590 at nearly twice the price?

Solution
i5 3340 has about 80 to 90% of the speed of a 4590.
You probably couldn't tell the difference between them in normal useage unless you paid close attention to your frame rates and boot up times

Thanks the pricing is tricky any of the good ivybridge or haswells 4590 4460 etc are all going for around the same price 100 - 120 however on the quite rare occasion they may pop up for 80 to 90 gbp. The 3470 is 80 gbp at the minute and the 3340 at 60 gbp just sold. Thats really the only significant price differences I can see at the minute.

Well, for curiosity I compared my 3570k with my 4690k.
The 3570 has faster memory than the 4690.
When set to the same CPU speed, they were almost identical when tested on Hyper Pi and Cinebench.
So the 3 series is only slightly slower than the 4 series.
BUT I just remembered.....
I had to buy an expensive Z77 motherboard for my 3570 in order to get high speed SATA for my SSD
my 4690 has a cheap h81 motherboard, but it is SSD ready and has USB3.
I guess what you save on the processor, you pay on the motherboard...

Thanks for your reply I am not really fussed on SSDs at the minute but may upgrade to one in a couple of years. The non k 3470 should be able to work on a simple h61 board like THIS since it supports 4 SATA 2 connectors surely although may not be fully optimal? I know the z motherboards are expensive but I am not using a k chip so wouldn't need one surely? Thanks

You will be amazed how much a HDD slows down a modern PC
But a SSD needs the new 6GB/s SATA 3 connections.
With a SSD, my computer boots up in 25 seconds. Installing programs is amazingly fast. Click, and programs open instantly. Trust me, you won't regret buying one.
