So I bought the H81M-K like a year ago and everything was fine until I bought a new case that has a 3.0 USB on the front(it also has 2x2.0, 3.0 are optional but, it looks cooler with them installed). I can't find a place to plug in my USB 3.0 20 pin connector, but the motherboard has USB 3.0 on the back. So I was thinking about purchasing a converter(9 Pin USB 2.0 Motherboard Female to 20 Pin USB 3.0 Housing Male Cable adapter) but I then realized that I won't get the same speed. So I'm not sure what to do? Maybe I missed the pins on the motherboard, maybe there are pins for the USB 3.0 but I can't see them? Can you guys help me if anyone has this motherboard tell me is the a way to connect a USB 3.0 on it, or should I buy the converter?

Solution

yes, although you might be able to get an pcie adapter card with usb 3.0 header
USB Ports
Intel® H81 chipset :
2 x USB 3.0/2.0 port(s) (2 at back panel, blue)
Intel® H81 chipset :
6 x USB 2.0 port(s) (2 at back panel, black, 4 at mid-board)
You only have USB 3 on the back - on board are USB 2 -

It's a small form factor board - they cannot put everything on there.

Thanks for the quick answer, Mr. Bruce. So if I purchase that converter I'd get the exactly same speed I get on the USB 2.0, right?
