Hey guys, need help to decide in what kind of a new computer to build, some gaming and most of the times multitasking, nothing special though.Want to buy them in a couple of weeks time, thinkingof black friday. Was going for an amd build 99% but thought i should consider intel too since i would like to get the best performance for buck,no matter where it comes from.Ok no more talking, here is the amd build:

AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz 8-Core Processor
Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P ATX AM3+ Motherboard
Cooler master hyper 212 evo
Sapphire r9 380 nitro 4gb OC/Msi R9 380 gaming 2gb
Thermaltake versa h25
EVGA 100-W1-0500-KR, 500w psu 80+
Kingston HyperX Fury Blue 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866
Seagate Barracuda 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
TP-Link TL-WN822N 802.11b/g/n USB 2.0 Wi-Fi Adapter
price on partpicker UK: 539 GBP

Intel build is the same just with stock cooler :

Intel Core i5-4460 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor
ASRock H81 Pro BTC ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
Sapphire r9 380 nitro 4gb OC/Msi R9 380 gaming 2gb
Thermaltake versa h25
EVGA 100-W1-0500-KR, 500w psu 80+
Kingston HyperX Fury Blue 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866
Seagate Barracuda 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
TP-Link TL-WN822N 802.11b/g/n USB 2.0 Wi-Fi Adapter
price on partpicker UK: 531 GBP

both prices are with Msi R9 380 gaming 2gb,the other costs 25 GBP more.
From what i know a stock cooler is enough for the intel proc since this one does not really overclock and has plenty of power for what i need, while the amd does overclock but needs a better cooler for that.
I guess i have more questions than one.
1,intel or amd ?
2.Sapphire R9 380 nitro 4gb or Msi R9 380 gaming 2gb ?
3.EVGA 100-W1-0500-KR, 500w psu 80+ or Cooler Master RS550-AMAAB1-UK GM Series G550M ?
would like a liittle explanation of why one or the other instead of just get this or that, thats just me i need a reason for everything.
Thanks guys in advance.

I would take the intel build. (With an H97 board, like the ASRock H97Pro4)
Sapphire (Sapphire is the name to beat in terms of AMD cards, MSI is quality, but sapphire is just flat out awesome, plus 4GB)
XFX 550w (Made by seasonic.)

Everyone talks about H97 when referred to i5's but B85 chipsets work just as well. This build should work fine

thx guys for input, should i consider the new i5 6400 ? forgot to mention than my budget is about 550 GBP,so cannot spend more, unless it will make a big difference.
I was considering the Asrock mobo too, read good things about it.For some reason you cannot see all offers on partpicker, which is why i check stuff on pricerunner.co,uk too,its usefull to have 2 sources for price check.
Considering a Samsung SSD for later too,the 850 evo, seems is among the best for 250gb.but for now worrying about the rest :)

With a fractal design define S window £587
With a Corsair Spec 02: £564

quite small price difference, £15 over budget (via price runner) and it has a few extras such as a HIGH QUALITY H97 BOARD and a western digital HDD plus an XFX (Seasonic) psu

Your original build isn't bad.

I think i will go with asrock h97 anniversary for about 65GBP and
Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ,cas 9,almost 60GBP

everyone seems obssesed with seasonic psus, they might be the best but a great psu is what i want and modular is a big help for aestethic,i am affraid that canno afford a seasonic modular so i will stick to cooler master or fractal design one.
do not really need an optical drive so,will skip that. Also want to get a wd caviar green 3tb for storage, got alot of stuff to put there and more to come

this is my updated build

evga gs 550w gold modular psu
thermaltake versa h15 matx case

viewsonic vx2326 23" screen
got many on a good offer.

no graphic card yet waiting on next gen on this summer,no point wasting money on an old gen gpu.
thx guys for input

Nice, there won't be any major changes on the AMD side of things in terms of this budget but Nvidia will release Pascal which I think at this budget range will have GDDR5X and not HBM/HBM2 which I think will hit the flag ship units.

So basically there's potential for there to be improvement as well as current cards dropping in price.

Thanks, good to know, i might for free a cheap 560Ti from a friend,so i will wait anyway to see if i can get something good at r9 380 price point with an improved performance,or i might get lucky and see the 970s and 390s drop in price after the Pascal release.Either way i have to wait, even though i already saw 380s drop in price already but jumping on them just yet.
