So I own a Dell Optiplex 790. I'm looking to game on it, and to do so I want to buy a new GPU (Gigabyte Windforce GTX 960), a new case (Corsair Spec 01), and a new PSU (EVGA 500W Semi Modular). HOWEVER, I have heard that the motherboard in thos desktop has a limited wattage PCI-E slot? So my question is, if I get a 500W PSU, instead of the 235W one in it, will the limited wattage matter? I am going to micro center tomorrow. Please help!!

What is the exact part number of that Gigabyte Windforce GTX 960?
If it's 2X OC then it has 2xPCIEx6 power plugs so you don't care how much power it drains from mobo. I might be wrong but from what i remember the only near-spec PCIE lane power drainer is GTX 750/ TI models. On the other hand even if it was that 750 each mobo has to meet the PCIE lane power specification, so it doesn't matter how old is it, actually few years ago ATI/nVidia card was pushing far more from that slot than nowadays.

Edit: So long story short you take that new PSU and it will power up that GTX 960 by 1 or 2 additional 6x/8x plugs from the top of the card, not the mobo... don't worry about it.

You should be fine, actually. A GPU should automatically pull what it needs from the PCIe slot. I believe it limits the wattage to other types of hardware you can put in them, minus GPUs. If not, then you'll need to get a new board.
