I want to buy a new gaming headset but i dont know wich to choose: i have now seen some and im thinking of the logitech g430 and the gomic g297. I now have a pretty good sterio headphone but want surround sound. Does it make a diffrence between those? I dont care about the mic

My impression of :

Chinabuye Somic G927 - it connects only via USB, which means you can´t easily use it for your smartphone, tablet or other devices that has normal jackstick. USB-connection leads me to believe it has a small DAC of it own, which basically means it will override any soundcard - onboard or not. I won´t expect top quality. You probably will get 24-Bit/96kHz with limitations, nothing higher or better.

Logitech G430 - Suffers from bad build quality. Reports of earpieces and mic breaking easily. There is option to use USB with inbuilt dac, or without USB. Sound is flat, but clear.

HyperX Cloud II - detachable mic which is nice. USB soundcard attachment is optional, and the USB Dac delivers the best sound of the 3...

It´s around 20 bucks more expensive than Logitech G430 and you get a quality pair of headsets.

Anyways, you ought to know that your soundcard is also an important factor. If you don´t have a good soundcard, you wont get a decent sound, and you might as well stick with your stereo headphones, rather than a low quality 7.1 surround headset with low quality dac.

So a good quality internal sound card is necassary if you need quality surround sound processing for gaming. And then you obviously need a quality headphone or speaker to translate the analag signals into quality sound.

Personally I think it´s worth it though. Alot of gamers dont prioritize sound enough. Sadly alot of people don´t realize what a huge difference it can make. Both in terms of enjoyment and in terms of knowing the positioning of enemies. First time I tried it, I was amazed, that during a login at WoW, I mistook ingame sounds for sounds outside my window, It felt amazing.

Budgetwise, you can skip the PCI sound card and still get a "decent" sound if your mobo has S/PDIF out

I believe this is the best budget headset you can get for under 100 USD.

Best gaming head set on a budget is Ear Force X12 Gaming Headset. And It's under $40 on Amazon. Ive had mine for over 3 years and it still looks and sounds great. It has a lot of little features that add up in the long run. I like Logitech and I own a lot of their peripherals but as far as headsets go I prefer Turtle Beach since that's all they make. A really nice thing about this headset is that it's extremely comfortable to wear; even during long sessions. I also like that it can be used on my Xbox with no issues.

The Amazon page says it has: "Amplified Audio - Enhances game sounds for a more immersive experience"
Which is marketing speak for "no surround sound per se but what do you expect for $40"?
Like I said I own this headset and had the previous version before my kids broke the ever loving heck out of it (it's solidly built by the way and it was already damaged from me sitting on it a couple of times) and for the price I paid (which was more than $40) I've had nothing but good experiences with it. I did run Windows surround sound test though and it sounded pretty decent through all the areas. I'm sure there's better headsets out there but for now my loyalty is with the Turtle Beach brand and I'll tell anyone who asks that I love the X12 and I use it daily and for hours on end and never had a problem or anything bad to say about it.
