I recently upgraded to Windows 10 and after a few days I restarted my pc and it says bad disk error every time I try to start Windows and I'm unable to see my hdd in diskpart to wipe it so I downloaded a bootable partition manager and I see all my data is still there. It shows I have 2 system reserves 1 is active & boot the other is where all my files are and it's set as System then the second system reserve is none. Should I just right click the hard drive and wipe it so I can reinstall Windows on to it or is it possible something is just messed up with my boot loader. I try to boot and install Windows but it doesn't show my hard drive in the list to install Windows to. Any help would be greatly appreciated

BTW This hard drive has maybe 2 weeks uptime on it and I've had no issues until upgrading to Windows 10. The BIOS still shows my hard drive so maybe it isn't broke.. I'm hoping I can change something with this partition manager to get it going.

I would suggest you create bootable USB for W10 and boot from it. Use the "Repair" function which should rebuild your boot loader.

Once you've got Windows functional, I would then do a full backup & a clean, "fresh" install of W10. The upgrade path can cause issues, where the clean install (including the required drive format) seems to eliminate the majority of issues.

When performing the clean install, just 'skip' the times it asks for a license key. Provided your W10 was activated on the servers before you started suffering this issue (which it should be if you upgraded), then your clean install will re-activate automatically.

That's the thing my drive is not showing up so that I can install Windows on it edit- okay wiping the hard drive fixed the the problem with it not showing up for the install I got an error trying to install it on the harddrive something about it couldn't make the partition so I clicked startup repair and it's attempting repairs maybe I'll be able to get it going now with other options like diskpart and such or format it before I install any ideas?
