Is it possible to install 2xEVGA 980 ti hybrid in the Alienware Aurora R4 (2011 version)?

Where to start?.... Well, like a week ago I decided to move from 2xgtx 970 G1s to a couple of EVGA gtx 980tis sc+ and failed miserably. One of the fans on a card wasnt working properly, they were very loud... well long story short: temperatures were through the roof. I had to remove the backplate of the bottom card and even then it was reaching 92C (which I believe is the max allowed temp) and throttling badly. After troubleshooting issues for more than 24h I had to send the cards back.

So doing some reading I found out that managing a gtx 980 ti temp is no easy task, let alone 2 of them. So I was eyeballing a water cooling solution. Making a loop is out of the question since I dont have the experience and I live in a country where you cant find parts.

So there are the cards in question: 2xEVGA gtx 980 ti hybrid. Im sure you guys know the cards, the ones that comes with a radiator and a fan. Thing is I dont know if it possible to mount those things in such a small case as the Aurora R4 and Im very afraid to pull the trigger and make a mistake.

I already have a Corsair H80i cooler installed, so I really dont know where to put the other 2 radiators.

Is it possible? will my 875w PSU be able to handle it? ( the recommended wattage for 2xgtx 980ti in sli is 850w but I dont know if the hybrid version will require more power).

Thank you very much in advance for your attention guys. Sorry for the long post.

Yes. I did contacted them. Sadly, it looks like the cards are defective :/

But now after seeing those temps Im very afraid of trying again with air cooled cards so I was wondering about the hybrid possibility.

Thank you very much for the links though :)

well thing is your dealing with dell and that can be where your on your own

I was looking at this and then read the comments ??? looks like some have issues ??

heres what I was getting at

''Hi,

We did not validate the NVidia GTX 970 graphics card with the Alienware Aurora R4 system. Therefore, we cannot confirm if the card will fit and function properly. Some users have confirmed success with non-validated GPU upgrades, you can also try posting this on the Notebook Review and Alienware Arena forums for assistance. '

so now reading that how do you think you stand with a 980 ??

you may be just at dell's mercy

/sigh

I know... honestly I regret so much buying prebuilt. Well, now I know for next time.

Ill keep trying to find an answer, if I cant I guess Ill just keep my 970s until I build a new PC next year when Pascal is out.

Thank you very much for your input junkey :)

well with these newer cards theres some custom builds mostly older chipset boards that have issues as well

home work/ research before you buy is now more important then ever things aint so plug and play anymore

like

If you are referring to the R7-370 in the Intel 775 motherboard, no. Gave up. It has my GTX 960 FTW+ in it now and is happy. For some reason that board refuses to work with that card. Yet the card works in every other ancient board I've tried. And the Intel board works with every other AMD/Nvidia card I've tried.
