Random power off

Hello everyone!

Since last two weeks, my homebuilt PC has been turning off randomly. And I really mean randomly, there is no pattern, the temperature and voltage, all seems fine. The only "pattern" I have noticed is that it happens more often AFTER playing some intensive games, but it just hasn't happen enough times to qualify as a pattern.

The power off leaves no Dump, and the Windows logs doesnt show anything unusual either. After the power off I can immediately turn the computer back on again just fine. There is also no guarantee when it would happen. Sometimes it happens once in 3/4 days, sometimes twice in one day.

The build is less than 1.5 years old. And only 3 months ago I installed a new PSU and Graphics card.

Any ideas what might be happening?

My specs:
-ASUS ROG Maximus VII Hero
-Intel i7 4790K
-Corsair Vengance Pro 8GB
-NVIDIA Gtx 970
-EVGA Supernova 750W 80+ Gold
-Samsung 840 Evo SSD
-Corsair H80i Cooler
- Windows 10 (Dont know if it matters)

Hi Alex, thanks for the quick reply. I want to do that as a last resort, cause I have a spare CX600 but it underpowers significantly under load. Also the PSU is only 3 months old, will be surprised if it goes bad so soon. Any other ideas?

His sizzling!

Hmm.. Ill try to find one, but there is hardly anyone with spare PSU in my area. But I'll probably just use CX600 and not put my PC under too much load.

Also Ill just post my Windows Log, in case anyone sees anything I couldn't.

The power off happens at 17:15

Hi, For ruling out a software issue, you can try a system restore.
If a PSU failure, you should notice an aggravation of the issue in time (system restarting more and more often).

Sounds to me like the psu shuts itself off to prevent damage to components.

From that line of thought, you should check the cabling is correct and plugged thoroughly. Also try to lower your graphic settings ingame to see if it has impact.
