Are there any components I should take out before painting my case?

So, I have an old old old PC that I want to refurbish/resurrect, however I don't want the stock grey boring color that it has (It's a Dell Dimension 2400).

However, I am not sure if there are any components I should take out of the case before painting it, and I don't want to damage them with paint.

If you could reply informing me on what to do with certain components, I would be grateful.

Thanks.

You should take out the power supply, motherboard, processor (and of course the CPU cooler), graphics card, cooling fans, hard drives, back I/O plate, optical readers and most front panel connectors. The rest you can leave/ paint over. now that metal and plastic components would require different paint types.
