Hi,

I have an old desktop pc that won't load anything on boot up, not even bios. It had Linux on it a few minutes ago. I wanted to install Windows 7. During the Windows installation it said it won't work because Partition 1 wasn't formatted NFTS. So I just deleted it and created new for Windows. It started to install, then said there was an unexpected error, you'll need to restart system and try installing again. After restarting it, nothing showed up, not even Asus bios screen or anything. I've tried multiple times and unplugged the machine for 10 seconds. Did I do something wrong by deleting the partition or is this a hardware problem? When I turn it on the lights and fans turn on and a light on the motherboard is on.

Thanks!

Solution
Regardless of the state of the hard disk you should be able to get into BIOS and also boot from USB/CD.

Disconnect the hard drive entirely and see if you can get into BIOS.

Thanks for the advice.

What ended up happening is I walked away from it for a while and trying again and it worked fine. I'll keep your tip in mind for the future.

Thanks!
