What processor is better between Intel® core i3-350m processor and AMD Athlon™ II quad-core processor 630? The i3 specs are: HP Pavilion Laptop / Intel® Core™ i3 Processor / 15.6" Display / 4GB Memory / 500GB Hard Drive and the other is a HP Pavilion Desktop / AMD Athlon™ II Quad-Core Processor / 4GB Memory / 750GB Hard Drive. I'm just wondering which one is the best buy. I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks!

What do you plan to do with the system? The 630 is better for multitasking since it has four cores, but the i3 is generally faster in single tasks. I'm not quite sure how the i3-m series compare to their desktop cousins. Also, there is the laptop vs desktop thing to consider.

I think the better question is, do you need a laptop or a desktop?

How could we tell you which is the best buy without even knowing the price?

This is kind of like saying "what is the best buy", a Kawasaki Ninja 750 or a Hyundai Elantra? Depends on whether you want a motorcycle or a car.

I'm in college and I need it for the basics: typing up papers, research, browsing the web. I also like to play the Sims 3 and other games. I am still in the process of deciding whether I want a laptop or desktop and hoping someone here can help. Also, each computer is about $600.
