GTX 770 good for 1080p gaming now-2016

My computer specs:
-i5 4460 3.20GHz
-MSI GTX 970 4GB
-Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600Mhz 2x4GB Dual Channel 8GB kit
-1920x1080 LG monitor
-500w Corsair CX Bronze
-1TB WCD Hard drive
-ASRock Z97 Anniversary Motherboard
-Windows 7 Ultimate
(Can play Fallout 4, Far Cry 4, Killing Floor 2, Metal Gear Phantom Pain on ultra)

Hmm well from what I can find online the GTX 770 is about the same as a GTX 960 and a GTX 960 can just take Ultra 1080p games but I would recommend if you want to play max settings for 2016 to get a GTX 970 which was built for 1080p ultra gaming or go for overkill and get a GTX 980.

You will need over 500w for the GTX 970. Some of the GTX 970's cards from different card manufactures require 2x6pin, 2x8pin or 1x6pin & 1x8pin connectors plugged in.

Be safe and get a GTX 970

Hope this helps

As mentioned, a GTX 970 is a great choice, and should be a safer pick than a 770. The next generation of nvidia gpus should come mid-2016, until then the 900 series cards are the best choice IMO.

The 770 is an amazing card, providing you are getting a good deal on it.

Anywhere that is selling them as new right now is going to be charging 2 times what they are worth. In this case get a 970.

If you are picking it up used for a reasonable price.... 150 USD or under then yes for sure it's a great card for 1080P. I'm still plenty satisfied with my 670 PE which isn't a terrible amount slower than the 770.

A big limitation of the 770 was its VRAM. It came in 2 & 4 gb versions but I saw many reviews saying it didn't have the memory bandwidth to utilise much more than 2gb and that the 4gb version was just a marketing ploy.

With games starting to use 3gb or more even at 1080p Id be worried just how long you will get out of this card. Obviously you can turn down the settings to reduce the VRAM needed in games but its something to think about.

Personally I wouldn't buy the 770, the lowest I would go is the 960 4gb

I think the safest thing to do is get a GTX 960 for high 1080p with AA or the 970 and play at high if you want thou it can do ultra but the lower the settings the smoother and less micro stutter you get.

I have realised that you can put a game on ultra on whatever card that is capable of playing a certain game on ultra but if it is just managing 60fps it will start to stutter.
I always lower the recommended settings a bit to give the card some space to breath.

@Wayfall. Thanks. But im on budget so i go for 770 at the moment. Currently t games i playing old amd new bf and cod, metro last light,etc... i sooner or later will buy it. Need to save up for 980.

I'm one of the rare people who has the 4GB version of the GTX 770, and it's absolutely capable of using all that VRAM. The memory bandwidth of the 770 is 224GB/s compared to the 112GB/s bandwidth of the GTX 960.

The 770 also doesn't have the VRAM issue that the 970 does, although the newer architecture and improved driver support make the 970 the better performer.

If you're going for a 770, make sure you get the 4GB version.

Vram isn't that bigger thing really have played games like Killing Floor 2, Metal Gear Phantom Pain, Fallout 4, Skyrim and such. I have never seen my Vram go above 2.5GB on any of these games. I monitored my Vram with MSI Afterburner, most games stayed at 1.2GB most of the time depending on what was happening.

Games like Dota 2, Tf2 and so on were only ever at about 800Mbs+
