Intel® Core™2 Duo Mobile Processor E8435 vs x9100

Wanting to upgrade my Gateway 7805u's CPU. I was thinking of the X9100 but I see several places listed Intel® Core™2 Duo Mobile Processor E8435, which they claim is similar (and will work in my laptop), but don't really say how they are different. They are around $100 cheaper, so its wroth thinking about. Whats the scoop on this?

Is this the best bang for my buck? Whats the top of the line cpu that I can buy? Is heat going to be a problem with a upgrade like this? Any thought are greatly appreciated, I know my way around a computer and have no fears of upgrading, but I don't know the tech differences in all the CPU that are available. I like this computer and plan on holding on to it for a while so I don't mind spending a few extra bucks and do it right?

Thanks....

It is actually the first time I am not able to find a mobile CPU at notebookcheck, sorry about that must be because it is so new!
  3. Yea, I saw that page. Makes be think they are are the same.
  4. The E8435 is a mac specific processor so I doubt it will be supported.

I own the same laptop as you, I'd suggest upgrading to a t9900. Best bang for buck for sure, it can run Black Ops, BFBC2, GTA4, and mostly every game on max settings, with the exception of crysis, which runs on very high I believe.

Brand new for $250 , heck of a deal.

  5. Anyone ever bought a big ticket item from one of these overseas sellers. I have bought cheap stuff, and got about what I expected. Plus it took forever to get. Little scared of a $250 purchase of a CPU.
  6. China, Hong Kong, Taiwan or similar?
I personally would not, (Difficult RMA process)
