I currently have the Sapphire Dual-x Radeon HD 6970, and am looking to replace my i7-930 and Asus p6t WS pro motherboard. I am guessing that this is one of amd 's new a10s, and thought it would be a good replacement, anyone know a better one for me? I plan to have it as a gaming desktop and have a budget under $300 for mother board ATX, ram, and processor. It would be great if someone had experience with one of these processors.

Thanks

The i7-930 is still ok. Also if you do some searching on Amazon, you will find many xeon server pulls. There are some much faster cpus that fit on your board.

The A10 is not faster than the i7-930, it's big advantage is that is has a built in gpu that about as fast as the HD-6750.

Your much better off spending the cash on a good video card. Go for something like a R9 290x,Fury,Furyx, Geforce 980,980ti. Crossfire R9 290's would also be a good choice.

It isn't worth the money to upgrade from an i7-930 to an AMD APU. The A10 is in roughly the same tier of performance as the original Nehalem-based CPU's like yours. Your $300 budget would be better spent on a new GPU like an R9 380 or GTX 970.
