Will sli gtx 980 ti last me for a couple of years on 4k resolution for gaming?

You'll be good for a while, and that's the best you can really get right now. TitanX's aren't any better for gaming. 3 or 4 cards don't yield any more benefits really.
What new games are like, no one knows but that should do you for a long while. Newer games will hopefully be DirectX and take better advantage of the cards.

A GTX 980 Ti will be ok for 4k gaming for a while. How long, i'm not sure, but for a few years, it will be perfect.
