Razer Tiamat 7.1

Solution
I guess it depends on your definition of Legit. I have a 5.1 gaming speaker setup and by comparison no surround sound headphone (real or simulated) comes close to producing positional sound. I believe that he drivers are just too close together to distinguish themselves from one another. I find (personally, my own opinion) that simulated surround sound headsets sound just as good as the true surround sound ones like the tiamat. On top of that, 2.0 speaker headphones sound better when playing back music.

Your board supports 7.1 audio so the headphones should be compatible and should produce 7.1 channels of sound.

Good post, PsyKhiqZero, and well described. About time someone pointed out that surround sound through headphones is physically impossible in the true sense, whatever technology is employed. It's just stereo with a few bells and whistles.
Good quality stereo mind you (on a good pair of headphones) but stereo just the same.
