I am a pc gamer and have had quite a bit of use out of my current CPU but I am wanting to upgrade. Is the AMD FX 8350 BE 8 core a good upgrade? Please don't suggest Intel since I am not changing my motherboard in this upgrade.

Normally I try to future proof for a bit with this upgrade will it be good for a while or am I just limping it along? If that is the case what would you recommend to keep me good for a while including intel options?

The CPU I linked to from Newegg would give your system a great boost. It isn't in highest tier according to Tom's hierarchy, but it would take a $400+ GPU to be bottle-necked by said CPU.

Might I ask what your PC's full specs are?
