Curious as to whether my CPU and Motherboard could handle a GPU upgrade. (Compatibilty)

So, I'm not very tech savvy so I figured I'd ask someone of a higher geek rank than me. (Not an insult I'm up there.)

I'm buying Fallout 4 in around two days, and my current rig can handle it on Medium settings 60fps. But I want more.

My current rig is as follows:

CPU - Intel Core i5 4440 @ 3.10GHz

GPU - 2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti (EVGA)

Motherboard (This is where my question lies) - Gateway DX4885 (LGA1150)

RAM - 8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz

As you can tell, my rig is decent except the GPU and maybe the Motherboard I have no damn idea where it's at on a scale. But I'm curious as to whether or not my CPU and Motherboard could handle the upgrade from a 750 ti to a GTX 970? Thanks in advance. :)

Solution
Your motherboard can handle it, but what is your PSU? Do you have a 500W PSU, and is it any good? If you have only 300W, or so, you need a bigger PSU and you need PCI-e power feed(s) to drive the GTX 970.
