I have an Amd Phenom 9600 Quad Core, 2.31 GHz, 3.25 GB of Ram and my Graphics card is a 9800 Gtx +. This is an old computer but from what i seen on the benchmarks, my card should be able to meet requirements. It's pretty compatible to the 550 ti card that's listed as the minimal requirements display card.

Yeah, you need some more RAM and a better CPU. I just did some research. You may want to upgrade your GPU too.

So if i have around 200$ to throw at my computer in the future, would it be better to save up for a brand new computer or just replace outdated instruments.

What do you suggest i do?? Im not very computer savvy, I'm just a gamer.
So I understand i'll need a new graphics card, new ram, and a new processor. Basically a whole new computer.

I've got a 730w power supply, and my mobo(motherboard, i'm assuming)_ has 140w cpu support on it, it's an asus, but its from 10 years ago:( this entire computer is 10years old. with that being said, do u still think i need a new mobo, with mine giving me 140w, or is that not the reason u think i need a new mobo??

ok, with a new motherboard, will i need to pick one thats specific to intel/amd processors or will either one work for the newer motherboards, im looking at CPU value charts, and ive found this Intel Core2 Duo E8400 @ 3.00GHz for 25$ on amazon.

I also found this video card, at 80$ GeForce GTX 750 or the 50$ FirePro 3D V3750, any opinions on these items for replacement options?

X-nay on the FirePro, from what i read it's actually worse than mine. let me know if what u think please

I've done some reading to try and understand how to choose a motherboard, I couldnt make sense of all of it, but I believe i need a Intel mobo for an intel processor. Is that correct, I'm really having a tough time understanding all the stuff about motherboards. lol:(

Memory Chips:
Crucial Technology BLS4G3D18ADS3.16FE 4GB __47$
OR
G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2133 (PC4 17000) 48$
MOTHERBOARD??
ASUS Z170 PRO GAMING LGA 1151 Intel Z170 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard 119$ !!!! (after mail in rebate)
Graphics Card
GeForce GT 740. 64.99

Is this all compatible, and do you think the value is fair?
I've got an old 730w power supply, which I assume can manage to power this stuff n two outer fans.

The Core 2 Duo E8400 is an LGA775 CPU, the motherboard is an LGA 1151 CPU, so no, not compatible. You won't find any CPU for LGA 1151 for only $25, it's a brand new socket, and the low end dual core models aren't even out for it yet. The cheapest CPU available for LGA 1151 right now would be the i3 6100, and that will cost you about $100 if you can find one.

For a new CPU you're looking at a minimum of about $70 for one, and that's if you go for the AMD Athlon x4 860k, which is about the cheapest CPU you can find that meets the game's minimum requirements. You'd have to get an FM2+ motherboard instead and swap out the DDR4 RAM for DDR3. You're not going to get anything cheaper that would work unless you're willing to look at used hardware.

Your parts are compatible, but you already know that. And yes it would play fallout 4, BUT not on max settings. For a gaming PC you want a good GPU. The GTX 750Ti is not a very powerful GPU, it's one I recommend to people with older computers or have a low wattage PSU. It's price to performance isn't as good as other GPUs. For almost the same price you can get an AMD R7 370, this is a better GPU. Or for a bit more the GTX 950 and a little bit more a 960....for a gaming PC you should look at these better GPUs. One suggestion would be to not get the CPU cooler, the stock cooler is all you will need for an i3, and use that money on a better GPU.

The other thing that bothers me is your 10 year old computer that you want to get other parts from. Does your old HDD even use SATA, or is it an old EIDE? Also your old case, do you want one with front USB 3 ports for your new build? If so, buy a new case and use it for your build and keep your old case for your girlfriend.

My HDD (hard drive) does use sata, it's a sata 3 in my bios, when i look at it. My case does have the 2 front usb ports, and an outlet for my headphones in the front and back of the case.

I like what I've been reading about the Amd R7 370, i've found one thats a little bit cheaper than the 750 ti i had picked out, thank you for recommending me that one. The others are ranged pretty high in price and I'm ordering a one part for now. Will this AMD R7 370 work fine on the motherboard i have chosen?

I really like what i've read on the GTX 950, it's only 50$ more, which i would love to have. Do you think it'd be best to wait till black friday?? lol

Ok, so your HDD is fine then. Front USB ports on your old case will be 2.0 not 3.0 but that's not a big deal as you'll have the faster USB ports at the back.
The R7 370 will work on any modern motherboard. The GTX 950 is the better GPU, but I don't know if it's worth $50 more. This might help https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAdbt_ew3eg
