i have a custom built computer with an ecs a885gm a2 v 1.1 motherboard and an amd phenom 2 x6 1045t cpu. when i go into the bios and set the cpu clock mode into manual and restart my computer it boots up and has power but nothing shows up on the display. ive dealt with this type of stuff before so i just physically reseted the cmos on the motherboard using the provided jumper. but when set the cpu clock to manual the problem still occurs. ive tried everythin like only running it with one stick of ram and using the intagrated graphics and nothing works. i know its not a power issue because my power supply is good and ive tried two other power supplies. i just need some help from someone who knows more than me

Solution
Might need to update your BIOS then. Make sure that all the voltages are correct and RAM timings match what your ram is rated for. In auto, sometimes the BIOS will increase your voltages or loosen RAM timings to make sure its stable. Oh, and clear your CMOS by unplugging the PSU, removing the CMOS battery for 10 or 15 seconds and pressing the power button and/or clear CMOS jumper while the battery is out before attempting to overclock.

yes it runs fine but it starts acting up when i change the clock multiplier to manual. even if i keep it at the default cpu speed in manual mode it still gives black screen

thank you for the help i hope this works. what would be the correct ram timing? and what do you mean by unplugging the psu?

oh and i need to clarify something you have previously mentioned. you want me to turn the computer on with the cmos battery out?

Yes, you are completely discharging any power remaining in caps that might not allow fully clearing the BIOS. You ccan find your RAM timings and voltage on the manufacturers web site or possibly on the sticks themselves.

Sorry, misunderstood you. Unplug the PSU first, then hit the power button on your PC or clear CMOS button or jumper, with the battery out, to discharge it. Then put the battery back in and plug the PSU back in.
