I have it plugged into the m.2 slot on my motherboard but its not showing up at all and I need someone to walk me through how to install it and make it my windows boot drive, I don't seem to have the setting in the uefi bios to configure it...

Solution
once you've physically installed the 950 PRO into the M.2 socket, you need to install the samsung NVMe driver for that 950

scroll about halfway down the page on this link, and you'll see it

http://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/minisite/SSD/global/html/support/downloads.html?CID=AFL-hq-mul-0813-11000170

on the same page, download a copy of samsung's data migration software - this latest version made life easy for me - use it to clone your existing OS drive to the 950

when i used it, it cloned the OS drive so completely, the 950 PRO booted first time i tried it - once you've cloned it and removed the OS drive, you'll need to go into bios and change the boot priority, make sure "windows boot manager" is selected as...
Hey there, aikirob.

There shouldn't be anything special you need to do besides connecting it to your mobo. So it's not recognized by your BIOS/UEFI and the installation media as well? Try the drive with a different computer if possible, to see if you'll get the same results, or at least a different port on your computer (if you have more than one). Another option would be to try to update your BIOS/UEFI and see if that fixes the issue.

Hope that helps. Please let me know how everything goes.

I tried to download the latest bios but the installer wont run as its a 32bit file and I have a 64 bit system -.- is there something else I can do to install the new bios?

Almost no one uses 32bit systems anymore so there's definitely an option for you to install the update with a 64bit system. I'd recommend that you check the motherboard manufacturer's website for info on how to do that, or contact the customer support directly and ask for further instructions. They might be able to solve the issue with the SSD as well.

I contacted them on multiple issues in the past and have not gotten any satisfactory replies, they are pretty useless. surely I'm not the only person having this issue, the mobo was designed to use this type of ssd, but I cant find anyone elses posts on how to configure it

If you don't remove the orig OS drive, you'll have two "windows boot priority" choices, and hopefully one will be identified with the model number of one of the drives. If it's the OS drive's model number, then select the other windows boot manager.

thanks, but it still isn't picking up that the m.2 ssd is there at all, even after installing the drivers, I also updated my bios from f1 to f3, still cant see it in my pc menu, I can select it as a boot option but it gives me an invalid drive error.

after installing the nvme drivers from the website I was able to find the drive in the computer management window and format it, so I ran the Samsung magician benchmark test and got the 2gbps read speeds that were expected, I'll try created the boot disk for it now and let you know how I go

try putting your windows dvd in the cd tray, when it opens it will ask whether you want to do a complete installation or repair the installation - select repair

PS - just occurred to me, in BIOS, have you changed the boot priority to selecting "windows boot manager" first?

and 2nd, did you use the latest samsung migration software, iirc, it's vs 4.8 - it was on the same webpage as the NVMe driver download

it asks for a driver when windows installation comes up, I pointed to the previously installed nvme driver but it didn't work. so without the driver I cant install windows to the ssd and there are no options to download the driver files on the gigabyte website, I tried extracting the nvme drivers from the exe using 7zip, but that didn't work either, I made a bootable flash drive with windows 10 on it and had it selected as boot priority 1 and the ssd as priority 2, but it still asked for the drivers that I didn't have.

So I fixed my issue, by updating my bios to the latest version which was version: f4b
I then used a windows install cd instead of a usb as a boot disk and disconnected all of my sata peripherals except my cd drive, I was then able to get to the windows install and used shift+f10 to enter admin cmd promt and used the "diskpart" command then the "list disk" and "select disk" commands then the "clear" command to clear the ssd hard drive, I was then able to install windows to the drive, I hope this helps anyone else who has the same issue.

How did you update the bios version? I am also receiving the same error regarding needing a 64-bit update file. Thanks in advance!

Using gigabytes software I was able to update the bios. The in the bios I switched to uefi. Once I did this I shut off the com. I inserted the windows ten USB boot and unplugged all but the m.2 drive. Upon booting I selected the 64 bit instal and followed the directions from here. https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn336946.aspx
This allowed me to boot from the m.2 ssd. Upon boot up I installed all drivers first and went online to install the samsung driver.

Hope this helps someone.
