Hello all

My Seagate 1TB 7200rpm hard drive of about 6 years has been making very loud grinding noises (is it grinding noise? I don't know). It has been doing this for weeks now, maybe even months, but I was just too busy or poor to care.

I have added a recording from my smartphone which was made holding the phone next to the chassis (side panels and whatnot all still attached). At one point you will hear fans whirring as I move the phone past a vent opposite the GPU (about 12 seconds in, so ignore that sound). What the recording sounds like is considerably softer than what I hear...it is LOUD and does this frequently. http://vocaroo.com/i/s10zvhwUbQJ6

The drive makes these noises when playing games AND when idle. Only games and some video media are kept on the drive, as OS, other applications and some games are kept on a shiny 240GB SSD.

Kind regards

As in the past, zero errors are returned. As far as Crystal is concerned, the HDD is 100% fine. I've learned to not trust disk checking software, they can't see the mechanical state of the drive. They only check the health of the disk itself :/
