Hello!

I have recently been looking at purchasing a new graphics card for my system, I am currently using a Geforce GTX 660 and have decided to choose a blower style 970. I'm thinking of getting a PNY 970 due to its blower style and its similar size. I'm new to upgrading PC's and any information would be greatly appreciated. As this is my first upgrade, I would like to know everything to ensure that I can successfully install the new card, due to me living in Australia purchasing this graphics card will be a large investment of $450+.

What i'm thinking of - https://www.pny.com/gtx-970-4096mb-gddr5

Here are my current PC specs:
Alienware x51 R2 (early 2013)
- GeForce GTX 660
- Intel Core i7-4770 @ 3.4 GHz
- 8GB of Ram

Due to the compact size of the case, I am not interested in a fan style of Graphics Card, if there is anymore information that I must provide, please say so. I'm not sure if my system has the correct power supply of 500W that is needed to run the card, so if you know how to check, please tell me (I have already checked the external power adapter, said nothing to indicate the power flow). I have already opened my case and measured that I should have enough room to insert my new Card into and I am looking to get a new card by this Christmas or May next year.

If there are any other suggestions, please comment.

-Thank you!

first, you NEED the 330w power brick

second it most likely will cause power issues, be aware of that.
Crashes, black screens, general instability etc.

You will probably need to lower its performance in the nvidia software to help prevent this, by underclocking it.
And even then it will not be guaranteed.

You can however get a reference gtx 960.
