Virtual memory issues with a game

Before i explain the problem i wanna get out of the way the fact that this started to happen after i formatted with factory reset and never happened before.

Sometimes when i play this game that only needs 4gb ram as recommended in system requirements, sometimes windows allocates around 20gb for virtual memory automatically when i already have 8gb physical ram and only around 60% used with the game running, also the game crashed once and got something about windows running out of virtual memory when 20gb were allocated.
Is it an issue with the game, with the ram, windows, virtual memory configuration or its malware or something?. I'm using windows 8.1 64 bit and formatted it last week, this happened 3 times so far with one game crash because it supposedly ran out of memory when its hard to believe since i still had at least 2gb left of physical ram and 20gb allocated virtual. Also can i check if the allocated virtual memory is being used and where? because i need to know why it needs so much virtual memory when i still have plenty physical memory left.

Thanks in advance, if i forgot to mention something needed to recognize the problem, please let me know, also i apologize if i used wrong terms or i don't explain myself well because english is not my main language and i don't really know much about computers.

all can can say maybe bad memory leak ???? these so much non pinpoint info out there that covers everything under the sun on this ??

things to look at --
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memory_leak

now the million dollar ? is it the ram or the program ?

not so easy
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/ff545405(v=vs.85).aspx

https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms859415.aspx

maybe try memtest to see if it shows something ??

http://www.memtest.org/

thing is some programd will take memory and not release it back and keep clogging thigs up

google chrome can be one of them

https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/chrome/86yzpxX7aws

so say with that there all eating away at your physical memory and now spilling over to the virtual [swap] memory until its gone as well ??

that's the best I can do ya on this for now

did you google the game to see if its a reported known issue with it ??

like crysis1 had a issue with it

I haven't tested for problems with the ram yet but from what you said, i'm starting to think that its not the game itself but some other program and its likely a memory leak because even after i close the game, the virtual memory used(all 20gb don't know why so much) isn't released until i reboot.

I googled problems with the game and memory issues were not showing up.

Also how do you use that memtest? sorry i'm kind of a newbie when it comes to this things

And thanks =)

The game is tales of zestiria

I have a question, virtual memory is allocated automatically when physical memory is not enough right? but still 20gb virtual memory seems like a lot. I had a couple of issues in the past when around 20~30gb disappeared from the C drive apparently to be turned into virtual memory since it came back after reboot, and everytime it happened it kinda messed up the explorer and some programs crashed and icons disappeared, it was the main reason i formatted in the first place but to think the problem is still around after....so yeah maybe it isn't the game itself, still what made me think it might be the game was because it happened twice when i was playing and the crash also. Hard to believe i could have issues with a game that doesn't have high requirements since i could play the witcher 3 with no issues

I kinda don't understand how it actually works, but i have win8.1 64 bit 8gb ram and my virtual memory is on automatic allocation, it usually goes with around 1.5~2gb but what's strange is that it suddenly jumps to around 17~30gb, so it shouldn't be strange since its near around 2 to 3 times my physical memory?

By the way, what should i be looking for in performance monitor? should physical memory be at almost 100% before it eats like 20gb from my C drive for virtual memory? i mean the main reason for this post is that it bothers me that it takes 20gb from my C drive for virtual memory when i'm not even using all my physical one and it even crashes saying i have not enough memory, so what should i be looking for(sorry i'm such a noob with this).

don't know may of been the first start of the issue - seemed I was reading on how that can cause this ??

give me tim to look back into that

I don't know ?/ your virtual memory looks low by that rule with 8gb I would think is should be closer to 14-16 gb??

tell you what try this

http://www.tekrevue.com/tip/disable-superfetch-prefetch-windows-8/

after you get it disabled try your game and see if it does the same ??? if not ?? if so then turn it back on

After some testing, it seems like disabling virtual memory solved it all. Thanks for the info and the patience anyways, at least i learned quite a bit from this.

well it will work out or you will or may run into more issues doing that?? time will tell ''Keep in mind that Windows will use some Virtual Memory for functions in the operating system so there will always be some used.''

thing is if the game was running out of physical memory and running over to swap but there was not enough virtual memory for that then how will disabling it work ??? I mean it did not claim to have what it needed but now you cut all if it off so it cant get any ??

maybe look over this it claims ''This Node type will help you find the problem application that is slowing your computer down and using so much resources.''

http://speedtestpro.net/virtualmemoryspeedtest.htm
just don't add up

good luck

you may look to see if you got this patch there talking about hrer??

Thing is apparently it has nothing to do with the game
