System Specs:

I5 2400 quad core processor at 3.4ghz
16gb ddr3 1600mhz dual channel Kingston Hyperx Fury RAM (brand new)
Hd 7850 2gb gddr5 video card
Msi g43 board
120gb intel ssd
1TB WD Blue data drive
Nzxt s340 case (brand new)
650w Thermaltake fully modular psu

Bought this on Tuesday night. It was demo'd and shown to be working at the guys house. Soon as I get it home, plug everything in (monitor, keyboard, mouse, power cord, ethernet cable), the power button doesn't work. If I remove the power cable and flush the power (hold power button for 10+ seconds), the power will come on for about 2-3 seconds, the fans will spin and the PC will shut off. I've tried the following:

-Resetting CMOS
-Reseating ram
-reseating heat sink (and removing thermal paste / applying new)
-checked all connectors and done a continuity check across the 24pin power connection and 8pin CPU 12v connection - there is continuity across all the correct pins
-tried booting with 1stick ram, 2 sticks, no sticks, in each slot.
-tried booting with no drives connected
-tried booting with no video card connected
-tested PSU on another motherboard - confirmed working.
-removed mobo from case and put a piece of cardboard behind to ensure zero metal on metal contact (creating a possible short)
-reseated CPU

I've taken the whole thing apart and rebuilt from the ground up. Same situation every time. I have videos on my phone. If helpful I can upload.

I've asked the guy for my money back as I put about 8+ hours into troubleshooting (probably more around 10) and it still won't work, but the guy says "i demo'd it working, not my problem". This literally happened as soon as I got home with it.

It has to be a motherboard issue at this point? Damn, so much frustration.

It sounds like you've tried pretty much everything.

Have you breadboarded, outside the case? Just the CPU/HSF, Mobo & 1xRam module?

It would be near impossible for the guy to show you it working (assuming it was turned on while you were there?) with a defective motherboard. So potentially something was damaged in transport?

Random question, after it was demo'd to you.....you didn't leave it with them without you, did you? You took it right away? Seems unlikely you would leave it with someone....but worth understanding the exact situation.
