Best mobo for i5 4690k gtx 970 and good build?

Solution
Made improvements, however the price is lower because the equally good Asus Strix GTX 970 is a lot cheaper than the MSI Gaming 2G.

Improved with the S340 case because it has better air flow (potential), better cable management and better dust filtering. I would recommend the Phanteks Enthoo Pro M if you can afford it. Great case, 110 dollars.

Improved the power supply with the B2 750 watts, It's cheaper yet better. The B1/G1 series are made by FSP Aurum and are not really that great for how much they cost. The B2/G2/GS series from EVGA however are Super Flower and Seasonic made, they are much better power supplies.

Improved SSD with the HyperX Fury. Sandisk SSD's can be well slow and are not as solidly built I think.

MSI Z97...

Admirable
believe it or not, that lot will run on a H81 motherboard, and will get exactly the same performance at stock settings as a very expensive motherboard... (except the memory, which will run slightly slow, making a tiny difference)
there are features which only appear on more expensive motherboards. Go on the manufacturers website and compare them, and decide what you need.

its a good build. Motherboards in that league are much of a muchness. Look at any key features you want. Asus, gigabyte, asrock all make good boards for z97 chipset. All have slightly different features and layouts. I would consider bumping up to skylake motherboard and cpu to stay current, even if it meant ditching the idea of a K edition cpu to fit it in your budget.

MSI Z97 Gaming 5 price is very good. Can't be beaten at the moment.

Selected Enthoo Pro M, but alternative is the 80 dollar S340.

Just because you can OC on a Gigabyte H81 motherboard doesn't really mean that you should get that. Less quality features, lower build quality, not suitable for OC'ing in general which could well shorten the life span of the motherboard are plenty of reasons to see why It's not smart to invest in a H81 motherboard with a processor like the i5-4690k. Poor audio card is likely aswell on a cheap H81 board. No no.
