Hello, computer froze, wouldn't turn back on. The computer would emit long beeps (long beeps, but would keep beeping continuously with pauses). Did research and I think my ram needed adjustment. After reading and tampering, I'm assuming the ram is dead because nothing I did helped the computer turn back on. (moved ram, clean slots, etc)

Old ram: http://m.newegg.com/Product/index?itemnumber=N82E16820145256

Will this new ram be a suitable fix? This is as close to the old ram that I could find.

Thank you!

Well, silly me, I can't find the exact computer specs because the computer won't run. The computer was a gift so I contacted the friend who gave it to me. Hopefully, I can find out the make and models of each, but for now.. Here goes...

Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813141005&cm_re=Nforce_780i_sli-_-13-141-005-_-Product if I'm not mistaken, that matches the exact model # on the motherboard.

CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117408 I did some digging to find that. I think that's the cpu! (I knew the socket # and cpu speed and that was the only 2.8ghz on new egg, so I think that's it)

CT2KIT25664AA667 is a PC2-5300, which will run (it's only 667 MHz though).

Instead could I run a PC2-8500? CT2KIT25664AA1067 provides the 1066mhz that my old ram ran fine at.

Whats the problem?
