Case Compatibility With New Motherboard Causing Boot Issue?

I just got a new Asus M5a97R 2.0 motherboard and is really pretty and blue, but it also has many sockets that my old case and PSU can't handle.

My case is a Targan A+ Curbic.
My PSU is a Thermaltake Pure Power 500

I installed my graphics card so I can run one of my monitors, but even before I put my Gcard in I was having this problem. I have 16 gigs of ram in and my AMD AM3+ cpu installed.

When I plug in the power cord after plugging in all the cords, my mobos green light turns on indicating my mobo is getting power. I'm also thinking it might be my PSU. I only have a 6 pin power cord for my processor, when my mobo has a 8 pin slot.

After attempting to boot my cpu fan doesn't spin and either do any others. I've plugged in all the connectors, on the system panel connector accordingly.
Also when I hit the power button I hear a short zapping sound. It repeats after i unplug my power cord and flip the power switch off/on , then attempt a restart.
The sound seems to be coming from my top PCIx16 slot. So I changed my gcard location and still the noise occurred. It's very difficult to pinpoint where it's originating from. The noise is brief.

Ideas?

Thanks

Solution
1) What is your GPU?

2) You used the wrong cable. The 6-pin power cable is the pcie cable for the GPU. Your PSU should have the 8-pin ( 2X 4-pin) ATX +12V power cable for the cpu. So change those cable, and clear the CMOS by the jumper ( check the MB manual), try boot the PC again, hope you don't damage your MB when you used the wrong cable.
