Good graphic cards that are around $100-$150, maybe $200? And should I game on PC instead of Ps4?

I stopped gaming a long time ago but now I have free time and want to play and I don't want to spend $400+ on a PS4 because it'll be a waste of money as I'll probably get tired within a few months. Im thinking that if I spend around $100-$150 on a graphics card, it is good because I'll play from time to time whenever I feel like it without having spent so much money.

My monitor is a LG Flatron E2041, will gaming be alright with this monitor? It is a 1080P but it's a few years old. My TV Panasonic Viera is also connected to it so can I play there and is FPS an issue?

So what suggestions do you guys have for me? Newegg should have some nice deals and this is my current computer's specs!

Intel i5 4690K
8 Gb Gaming Ram
1000 Gb Storage
500W Gold Corsair Power Supply
Z97 G45 GAMING MOTHERBOARD
ALSO, MY MONITOR IS A LG FLATRON E2041.

I have nearly the same setup as the OP, only with a 550W PSU. I'm looking for a card too and the 950 keeps coming up as a recommendation. Is it worth spending the $30 more for a 960? I don't know the difference, but power consumption is my concern.

Please let me know what you do as it will help me and I will tell you what I end up doing to help you out! I think power might be good. I'm now worrying about extra costs of a cooler for the graphics card?

I'm worrying about power consumption? I think my power supply is 550W. Also, will I need to spend extra money on a cooler for the card? That will suck lol. I'm trying to keep my costs as minimum as I'm not a heavy gamer but I still like to play and screw paying nearly $500 only for a PS4.

I've never bought one before but which is regarded as better overall and will have a better lifespan, Nvidia or AMD? I'm not planning to be playing anything on hyper ultra max settings. I just want stable frame rate on (hopefully) high settings, so for just the "basics" like that would there even be much of a difference?
