Need info about SSD.

Hey guys, I have a 850 Evo 120gb and I'm going to get another one but 250gb this time for Christmas to store my games. I have two questions.

1. Is it better to leave the SSD that my OS is installed on empty for some reason?

2. With two same SSDs but different capacity each will I be able to put them in RAID?

Hi andreaszero,

1) It really is best to only have your OS (and small programs) on the 120GB drive. SSD's start to lose performance when they have more than 90% of their capacity used.

Hey thanks for the answers. In fact, I do have some games on my OS SSD, the ones I play the most, but it's not above 90% capacity for sure. It's around 70-80%. But I will move all the games on the new 250gb when i get it and I will leave some small programs like visual studio etc etc that will cover along with the OS around 30% of the capacity. Is that fine?

For the second question, ok I won't put them in raid, I will just connect it with a sata cable and leave it there

No problem, and yes, what you described for your boot drive will work perfectly. Moving the games off will make it quite a lot easier to ensure you don't run out of room on your 120GB SSD.
