Hi Guys

I am having an apparent problem with my ASUS Geforce GTX 980.

The card that I am using has the following outputs

3 x Display Port
1 x HDMI
1 x DVI

I currently have one monitor connected to Display Port and 1 monitor connected to DVI.

When I plug my TV in using HDMI to become my third monitor, it does not register that I have plugged anything in.

Can I not use a Display Port and a HDMI at the same time? Do I have to plug my TV in via a HDMI to Display Port adapter for me to achieve this?

I have tried to connect my TV using a HDMI cable that connects into a Display Port adapter but still no luck...

Help please

95% of the time, in order for the DP to allow you a 3rd monitor, it has to be hooked up to a DP port ... DP to DP. Any variance from this and it treats the signal like a DVI or HDMI signal, of which you are only allowed 2. In order for the 3rd screen to work, you need to actively convert the DP signal to another. I linked a DVI adapter as those are the most common and I'm not sure any active DP to HDMI adapters exist, though it's been a while since I checked.

In that scenario, you would hook:
Graphics card DVI -> Monitor DVI
Graphics card DP -> Active DP/DVI adapter -> Monitor DVI
Graphics Card HDMI -> TV HDMI
