I just upgraded to the Titan X (12gb) from my triple SLI setup 670GTX.

I play games @ 5760x1080.

Will I see a significant difference (other than less heat and power draw)?

Also, can someone clearly explain what the hubbub is about needing more than 24gb RAM to effectively use the 12gb vram? (I have 32gb DDR4 so I don't think that's an issue, but I want to understand).

Finally, what games can actually use that much vram?

Solution
Yes. The Titan X will be faster, and the massive increase in VRAM will allow you to run games at high settings at that resolution.

The Titan X blows those three away in every aspect. Single cards are also always better than multiple cards if you can swing it.

I see what you're talking about as I recall reading something about it but not caring much at the time. Searching online I can find plenty of benchmarks and memory test on the GPU and it's Vram buffer but none test how it impacts system memory.

That's not true. GTA V goes beyond 6GBs on my dual 980Ti's maxed out textures and settings in 4k. Modding in many games such as Skyrim can easily push you into well beyond 6GB VRAM in 5760x1080 resolutions.
