I just bought an EVGA Geforce GTX 980 and with it installed the PC fails to boot properly.

With the EVGA Geforce GTX 980 installed, the computer powers on fine with the fans start moving on the Mother Board, CPU, and Video Card. It goes through the POST fine with no error codes…. and then stops. No images appear on the monitor and after 30 seconds after POST finishes the fans stop on the Video Card but remain running on the Motherboard and CPU.

It is in a brand new PC using:
Motherboard- ASRock FATAL1TY X99 PROFESSIONAL
CPU – Intel i7-5820K Haswell-E
Power supply – EVGA SuperNova 1000 P2
Ram - Kingston HyperX
Monitor - LG Electronics UM95 34UM95

I borrowed a Sapphire Radeon R9 290 from another PC and the system boots up perfectly and runs flawlessly so I do not think any other component is the issue. The Radeon R9 290 is labeled as “<300W” which is more than the EVGA Geforce GTX 980 which is labeled as “165W”, so the PSU should not be the issue.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions on how to solve this issue.
