Hi, i've been having a few problems finding out if my external hard drives are Sata 2.5 or 3.5 or Ide 2.5/3.5 ( Are these the only possibilities ) ? How do i find out ( If google can't help me )
The hard drives are all roughly 2 years old so their official websites carry no info about them.

1) http://www.amazon.com/Passport-Portable-External-Storage-WDBY8L0020BBK-NESN/dp/B005HMKKH4
2) http://us.toshiba.com/accessories/portable/2tb/basics/HDTB220XK3CA
3) http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Expansion-3-5-Inch-External-STBV2000100/dp/B00834SJS0

Question 2 :The reason i want to know is, i want to take them out of their enclosures, buy a 4-5bay enclosure and install them in the enclosures, assuming the bay specifies sata 2.5/3.5 compatable, will what i want work? don't want to take them out of their enclosures and realize they can't be installed

Does this not apply to me? Pasting someone's reply to a similar question someone had on tom's hardware

The paste : External drives consist of an enclosure and a hard disk.

The newer external drives have SATA hard disks in them. The real old ones have IDE (PATA) hard drives in them.

These drives are exactly the same as the drives used as internal drives. So you most probably have a SATA hard drive inside the external enclosure.

There is one more thing to consider. If the external drive (with enclosure) is one of the compact types then you have a 2.5" drive inside. These are the drives used in laptops. This drive too can be installed as an internal drive, but you will need a front bay adapter so that the drive fits in the adapter and the adapter fits in the front bay of your desktop computer.
