I'm upgrading my pc with more ram and i was just wondering if I would be able to mix 2 different sized ram modules together I already have a 4x2 config leaving me with another 2 slots available so I was wondering if I grabbed two 8gb sticks of the same brand running at the same timings/speed if I'd have any issues

Build:
Phenom II X4 810 3.05ghz / Hyper x Fury Black 8gb (4x2) / Gigabyte am3+ ud3p
970a rev2 Motherboard / Gtx 750ti / 128gb Adata slim s60 SSD / 1TB HDD 7200rpm
/ Win 7 64bit home edition

Solution
So there you go the max amount of ram your OS will handle is 16GB of ram. So buy a 2x8GB kit, put that in and take the 2x4GB kit out the OS will not use more the 16GB.
depending on which home version you have,

Windows 7 home premium 64 bit max 16GB
windows 7 home basic 64bit max 8Gb

So if you have home premium the just install the 2x8GB kit and be done.
If you have home basic do not buy any ram as your already at the max right now.
