Hi,

I'm trying to reinstall my OS without using a CD or USB. I have the ISO from the Microsoft site, is it possible to install it by mounting the ISO or in any other way?

Thanks.

There is no other way except by Factory Recovery, and that only applies to laptops or factory-built desktops, you run factory recovery from the hard drive.

The ISO from Microsoft is so you can make a bootable DVD or pen drive from it.

You have to boot from one or the other to install Windows.

Even if you only need to perform a repair install to an existing installation, you still have to use a DVD or pen drive (though there's no need to boot from it for a repair).

Thanks for all the replies, managed to create a directory for Windows to install from using Command Prompt and the Windows 8.1 64-bit ISO, here is the link if you are interested in reading!

You do realize that's for RESETTING or REFRESHING a current version and does not apply for reinstalling Windows, which is what you asked for.
