Here's my story guys, the other day I was going to update my hp computer of 3 years, since i had no troubles with the i5 processor I decided just to get a case, a better psu and the graphic card. Today after assembling all the pieces the pc wouldn't leave the boot screen. After a lot of investigation I discovered that HP locks some of their bios so that we cant replace some of the computer hardware.
Now since I am short on money, and I dont want to mess up again, what is the most affordable mobo that can support a Gtx 960 and a i5-2400 that, eventually, will be upgraded as well. (If you have a solution for this problem pls let me know as well).

If you mean the stock fan on your old CPU, NO. If you mean an aftermarket CPU cooler you added, maybe. What is it?

I too would go with the i3 4170. It's cheaper. The i3 6100 is only slightly faster, but uses a bit less power. The motherboards I selected all use DDR3.

If you can stretch it, I would seriously consider an i5, like the 4460.

Thank you very much for your answer but I am probably going to change the cpu as well now, do you know of any 100-150 euros cpu that is good for the price range? (currently looking at a i3-4170, i3-6100 and amd fx 6300)

You want to spend 100 - 150 euros for a CPU and motherboard? That's a considerable challenge.

Those were the exact three i was looking at. Cant I just re-use my old cpu cooler on these cpu's?
Which one of the three would you pick, performance and future wise? (myself I would go for the i3-4170)
Once again thank you very much,
